Iâm not sure if you are aware of this or not, but the final trailer for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens was released this week with little fanfare or attention. Oh, you are aware of it? It was a huge deal and everyone collectively lost his or her mind? Oh, yeah, that sounds right now that you mention it, especially since Iâve spent this week watching it over and over, seeing pictures and videos of my friends tearing up at it.
While it has been dissected for clues and leads, it has also been marveled at for being a wonderful trailer with a haunting score. That’s why this fan made edit, created and posted by YouTube user Tim Gonzales, using only the trailerâs music without any dialogue or narration, is beautiful in its own way.
Sure, for a brief moment Han looks like a confused old man opening his mouth for no reason, but thatâs a small price to pay for the isolated pianoâs chilling effect at the start, before the orchestra takes over as it heads into the action scenes.
Hereâs the original for comparison:
Iâm not crazy when I say this music-only one is basically just as great, right? For what we lose in information about accepting who we are and questions about the past, we gain in the type of emotional impact unique to setting stirring images to a great score.
I think I might be in the minority of Star Wars fans when I say this, but before this final trailer I was a little worried about this film. The prequelsâ¦they changed me man. They changed me. After this trailer though I am all-in, and this fan trailer hit me just as much as the real one.
What do you think of this The Force Awakens trailer? Better, worse, or the same as the real one? Your ideas in the comments section put you must.
