Beach Jams 101: Be from Florida, have shimmery guitar guitar chords, sing about ice cream, repeat. Maybe the most crucial aspect of a summer song is its replay value – it can’t be too contemplative and it has to sound like a place you want to be. You want to be able to inhabit the sound without pondering it too much.

“Frequency” has all the above prerequisites for a beachy vibe, but what really sucked me in were those hypnotic, shoegazey “ooos” that crop up around the chorus and linger for just the right amount of time. That warm droning noise is exactly the place I want to be this summer.
