Music Geek Track Of The Week: Born Gold’s “Lawn Knives”

One week down, nerds, and only 51 to go! I think that merits a celebration, don’t you? Born Gold’s Lawn Knives, has been putting me in a perpetually joyous mood this entire week. First of all, I’m suspicious of Born Gold’s use of subliminal messages, because listening to them is a hypnotic and euphoric experience. When listening, I generally want to go buy a lollipop and skip around my office — a frightening sight for my co-workers.  The electronic bed of bleeps and bloops reminds me of birds chirping, or perhaps dolphin sounds (go to :50).

That mesmerizing element in their single is emulated in the music video projecting a cinematic, kid-friendly acid trip. It’s weird, goofy and a bit terrifying all at the same time. Watch it, folks. It’s cool, I swear.

So there you have it, 1 of 52 tracks that Matt and I will be recommending to you this year. We’re hoping your ears will become our friends.

These guys put on one hell of a live show, too… one highlight for me was percussion by means of beating each other over their hockey-helmeted heads!

I had to fight the urge to skip around as well! lol
