Music Geek Track Of The Day: ‘Youth’ by Ben Kahn

I don’t know about you nerds out there, but every morning when I wake up, I wish I had my own DeLorean. I just want to see what the ’80s were like, man! I want to wear shoulder pads without shame, spend more money on hairspray, and listen to Devo unironically.

This morning my dream came true, sort of. Ben Kahn premiered the video for his new song, “Youth,” the single from his new EP 1992. The song alone makes you feel like you’re in the middle of a Top Gun montage, but the images Kahn paired with the luminous tunes are reminiscent of  ’80s action movies. Hidden in the collage of harshly lit clips are old desktop computers, campy CGI, and a helluva lot of cross-fade transitions. It’s weird, creepy, stylized, and oh-so tantalizing to the senses.

Ben Kahn’s EP is out now!

  1. This actually sounds more like the 90’s late 80’s. His fashion is also very 90’s.
