Music Geek Track of the Day: Too Many Cooks 8-bit Cover

Too Many Cooks: messianic or apocalyptic? Feel-good family sitcom or gruesome decapathon full of broken dreams? These are all legitimate, unanswerable questions about the short that appeared on Adult Swim last Friday. But one thing remains steadfastly pure, good, and true of the short and that is its never-ending theme song.

After a cook-filled weekend, we are back with some earth-rattling news for you. Less than four days after Too Many Cooks was unleashed upon us mortals, the theme song was given the 8-bit/chiptune treatment by Youtube user Rush Coil. You might be thinking “with exhaustive metaphors about ‘cooks,’ ‘broth,’ and ‘stew,’ how could one ever hope to distill the lyrical and tonal greatness of the Too Many Cooks theme song into a an NES-sounding version? Fear not, because the 8-bit version is everything you want and need, and Rush Coil will make absolutely sure that you never forget this theme song for the rest of your meager, non-8-bit existence.  They even get the really scary part of the song in there too, which is great/terrifying!

Check out the video below, and let us know if this song made your day or will haunt your dreams.

Rush Coil’s a pretty good 8-bit artist. His 8-bit Christmas album is probably my favorite Christmas album because the classics just get too annoying played over and over on the radio.

For some reason I’m reminded of Maniac Mansion

    Well THAT sounds demonic.
