Music Geek Track Of The Day: ‘The Wild Life’ by Vacationer

When I first heard Trip and Everyone Knows back in 2011, I was expecting the band Vacationer to rise through the ranks as the boho Vampire Weekend. They were a little less pop and a little more barefoot. Nevertheless, the tropical indie-rock phenomenon that I had expected ended up never happening.

Last week, Vacationer blessed us with a treat, The Wild Life, a new track from their upcoming LP Relief.  It’s so beachy, it made everyone in the Nerdist Offices collectively crave Pina Coladas (try saying that 3 times fast).

I can only hope that this new album sparks an island-indie-pop trend for the summer. I’ll only say it once, but it would be a genuine improvement from last year’s Blurred Lines fiasco.
