Music Geek Track Of The Day: ‘Slave To The Rythm’ by the Michael Jackson Hologram

Coming from someone who had no idea that Billboard Magazine was still a relevant… thing, the fact that this hologram-heavy award show even existed on ABC last night surprised me.

For those of you that don’t know, just like Tuapc 3 years ago, Michael Jackson came back from the dead through the mystical wonders of technology.

The performance was announced prior to the broadcast so MJ’s hologram was the most anticipated event of the show, unlike Tupac, whose resurrection was a surprise at the Coachella Music Festival. Audience members cried as they watched The King Of Pop perform “Slave To The Rhythm”, a song featured on his recent (yes, recent) album Xcape. It’s mind-blowingly hypnotic.

Dancers, both real and imaginary jump and glide along with MJ on stage, and one thing’s for certain, MJ hasn’t lost any of his skills. The song was a great choice for the performance, but the visuals are what makes this whole thing worth 4 minutes of your life.
