Music Geek Track of the Day: ‘Pancho & Lefty’ By Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard

How is Willie Nelson 82 this week?! In my head, he is forever-young, always looking like he does on the cover of his album with Merle Haggard. Sure, “Pancho & Lefty” was originally written by late-great Townes Van Zandt, but it was Willie who helped give the classic tune about the infamous bandit duo new life.

Willie’s legacy is well known by now. He has worked with virtually everyone (if you have never heard his pro-cannabis collab with Snoop Dogg you are living but a hollow shell of a life), but I wanted to bring it back just a little bit to one of my favorite Nelson recordings as we all wish the teddy bear of country music a happy healthy birthday and many more to come. Keep on keepin’ on, Willie.
