You know those rare weeknights when you have unlimited energy, like your body somehow synthesized ADD medication, for seemingly no reason? What are you supposed to do in those insular moments when the world is yours, but no one else is up, everything is closed, and it’s potentially too sketchy to really avail yourself of the outdoors?
If you were to ask English electropop/R&B songwriter, Royce Wood Junior, I bet he would simply advise: “Dance, homie!“. The producer, who released one of our favorite songs of 2014, is back with his first track of the new year and it is a welcome addition to his sensual yet danceable catalog.
According to an email exchange he had with The Fader, Wood Junior wrote the track during a day marked by “incessant personal failures.” He went on to explain, “It’s about being able to laugh at your own stupidity and operate under the presumption that you can do it better tomorrow…” But in the interim between sundown and sunup, might as well dance away the stress, alone and half dressed in your bedroom.
