Music Geek Track of the Day: ‘Making Breakfast’ by Twin Peaks

Nope, not the same breakfast-celebrating Twin Peaks that you are likely thinking of, but a good one nonetheless! The Twin Peaks I am talking about ( yes, they are aware of the confusion this causes, especially now that the show is returning in 2016. Apparently, they love Audrey Horne) are a scrappy outfit of garage rockers from Chi-town who look like they used to be the skateboarding slackers who popped rad ollies out at the local mall (sup, Old Orchard), and made every geriatric consumer reach for a handful of over the counter anxiety medication.

Though it has been over a year since I last posted about the rock group, it looks like my insights about them being “aspiring burnouts” was SO on point, based on the below video for the catchy, completely irreverent, song about being in love and making breakfast. First of all, it looks like half the band is rooting through, or at least hanging out adjacent to trash for no identifiable reason? Secondly, pretty sure that smashing eggs on your head in your shower doesn’t constitute cooking or bathing, unless maybe you are Kramer. And thirdly, I have never seen anyone grill breakfast outside, even with the advent of the illustrious George Foreman grill.

All of these points are to say that sometimes it actually looks like a lot of fun to be a totally gross, egg-covered, 20-year-old slacker just bumming around with your friends, trying to figure out what to eat for brunch at 3 p.m. Ahhhhh college/real life for the first year after college: how we miss you. Check out the video below, and why not also listen to the Twin Peaks theme song to see how starkly different the two aesthetics are.

Let us know if you are digging what these guys are cooking up on Twitter! And make sure to say hi to me @MattGrosinger!
