Music Geek Track of the Day: ‘From The Kettle Onto The Coil’ by Deafheaven

Riding the grating intensity of last Thursday’s track of the day, I am really stoked to post this eardrum puncturing metal track by San Francisco-based outfit Deafheaven. “From the Kettle Onto The Coil” is the latest installment of Adult Swim‘s excellent singles series, for which we premiered a pretty bumpin’ Captain Murphy track.

This new Deafheaven song is a really satisfying listen if you are into the band’s thrashier side as opposed to their dreamier, gauzier side. After listening to 2013’s versatile Sunbather, it’s rad to hear these dudes tend back toward the screaming path of destruction (wave of mutilation?) that was their first album, Roads to Judah. Hopefully this new cut means the band is back in the studio preparing to release their followup to Sunbather and that we will have more spine eviscerating material soon.

Download the track right here and let us know how many objects you threw at the wall throughout the course of this song in the comments below and on Twitter.
