Music Geek Track of the Day: Courtney Barnett Performs ‘Pedestrian At Best’ on the TONIGHT SHOW

If you are not yet familiar with the Aussie-rocker Courtney Barnett then you are in for a treat this evening, my friends. Taking the Tonight Show performance stage for the second time in her career on Tuesday night, the musician tore through lead single “Pedestrian At Best” from her excellent debut album, Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit.

As she delivers her delightfully dry, though sometimes acerbic, lyrics in her Australian accent, her chord progression pummels you right in the chest. Though I am personally a fan of some of her more hushed, delicate tracks, it is hard to dislike this dose of unbridled energy from someone right on the cusp of a promising career. When we spoke to Courtney last year show, she described how listening to Nirvana was a crucial turning point in her musical style and preferences and I think this raw performance is a testament to that. Looking forward to much more of this from her soon.
