Music Geek Track Of The Day: ‘Caged Profit’ By Pure Disgust Is Raw Rock For Moshing

Sometimes, when your body isn’t responding to any-sized dose of caffeine–lethal, in my case–you just need some sludge to ooze through your headphones and work its way into your central nervous system, causing a welcome fit of ataxia. I was tired all day today and then I caught wind of this new album from Washington D.C. punk rockers Pure Disgust and now I am convulsing uncontrollably–like it has taken me an hour to write this post because I am throwing a fit on the floor.

The five-piece makes pretty barebones punk rock that relies on guttural screaming for the bulk of their moxie. Of course there is seriously brawny bass and catchy guitar riffs that are surprisingly not as distorted as one would expect, but it’s the vocalist hatefully spitting out profanities at oppressive establishments that is really doing it for me. Also brownie points for tagging their genre as “hardcore,” “what’s good,” and “macklemore.” A seriously fun and agressive band with a sense of humor? Okay in my book. Be sure to check out there entire album Chained right here.
