Music Geek Track of the Day: This MARIO KART Dance Remix Has The Club Going Up

Load up on golden mushrooms and and super stars, because this insanely infectious dance track exclusively featuring samples of noises from the Mario Kart video game series will have you bumping and swerving until the sun comes up over the Koopa Troopa Beach horizon tomorrow morning.

DJ/producer Aylen shared this gem three days ago and it is the party anthem the Nerdist office has been desperately awaiting. Everything about “MVRIO KVRT” is on point–the pitch-shifted 1st place music that leads into a protracted version of Toad’s spin-out cry is one the most ridiculous things I have heard today. It sounds like he is losing his tiny little mushroom-capped mind to a wonky beat that is really reminding me of The Knife’s “We Share Our Mother’s Health”. And then, of course, there is the Wario drop, which just features the portly, misanthropic, mustachioed villain laughing over a trap beat. Take note, Diplo. This is how you appeal to demographics beyond the hordes of tank-top clad bros (although everybody knows bros love Mario Kart 64, so I guess this track has a little bit of something for everyone).
