MTV’s SCREAM Has The Director You Hoped It Would

Yesterday, we told you about the characters being cast for MTV’s upcoming television adaptation to Wes Craven’s fan-favorite franchise, Scream. In that report, we mentioned that rumors were swirling that Craven was in talks to direct the pilot of the series written by Jill Blotevogel. Well, according to a report from Bloody-Disgusting, those rumors are on the money and Wes Craven will indeed be in the director’s chair this summer.

For those that don’t recall, the series will reportedly focus on a YouTube video that goes viral and wreaks havoc for the town of lead character, Harper Duval. This “YouTube” connection has led some to think this is how the series will tie into the franchise as the fourth film saw killer, Jill Wagner, records every murder committed.

Until we start seeing some actual footage from the pilot, there’s not much else to add. But it seems Craven is looking to use this series to add a whole new layer to his horror franchise, and so far things seem to be on the right track.
