Spider-Man

Spider-Man Civil War Shield

Sony’s new Marvel Cinematic Universe wall-crawler. Tom Holland is just a few weeks away from his debut in Captain America: Civil War, and casting has begun on the new stand-alone Spider-Man film. According to BBC, Sony has registered a domain name for SpiderManHomecomingTheMovie.com. This seems like a reference to the Amazing Spider-Man #252 “Homecoming” story arc, but we’ll have to wait for more information about the film to know which route it will take.

The Spider-Man reboot film is coming on July 7, 2017.

Batman: The Killing Joke

Batgirl The Killing Joke

One of the darkest Batman stories ever told is coming to the screen this summer in Batman: The Killing Joke. Batman: The Animated Series veterans Kevin Conroy, Mark Hamill, and Tara Strong will reprise their roles as Batman, the Joker, and Barbara Gordon, respectively. The first teaser for The Killing Joke went out with Justice League vs. Teen Titans, and it looks intense.

To expand the story, Barbara Gordon’s Batgirl will be featured in an extended prologue for Batman: The Killing Joke. This film will premiere at Comic-Con International, but a release date hasn’t been announced yet.

Speedy Gonzales

Speedy Gonzales

It looks like Warner Bros. is serious about giving Speedy Gonzales his own animated movie. The first word about the project broke in December, but now Speedy has Eugenio Derbez lined up to provide his voice in what is expected to be an origin story for the fastest mouse in the world.

The plans haven’t completely come together for Speedy yet, but Saving Silverman screenwriter Hank Nelken is writing the script, which will be produced by Rivers Edge Films and 3pas Studios for Warner Bros. Animation.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Ex Machina actor Domhnall Gleeson has signed on to the Netflix original film A Futile and Stupid Gesture, which will chronicle the creation of National Lampoon in the ’70s. Gleeson will portray Henry Beard, one of the magazine’s three co-founders. Will Forte is already lined up to co-star in the film with Gleeson.

Gleeson will film his part of the movie in April before reporting back to the set of Star Wars: Episode VIII.

The Last of Us

TheLastofUs

Remember those rumors that Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams was lined up to potentially star in an adaptation of The Last of Us? That’s probably not gonna happen anytime soon. The Last of Us game director Neil Druckmann offered IGN an update on the film version and the news isn’t good. According to Druckmann, “There hasn’t been any work done on it in over a year and a half.”

Blade Runner 2

drax-feat

Over the weekend, Dave Bautista couldn’t resist teasing a potential role in Blade Runner 2 with a pic of origami on his twitter account. But now Alcon Entertainment has made it official: Bautista is joining the Blade Runner sequel alongside Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, and Harrison Ford.

Nobody is sure who is or isn’t a replicant in this movie, but we do know that Warner Bros. will release Blade Runner 2 on January 12, 2018.
