Movie Morsels: X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Shows Off New Team Uniforms

Happy friggin’ Friday, Morselers! Before you head out to the theater this weekend to watch Hail, Caesar! (Hail, Coens!), we’ve got the latest for you on X-Men: Apocalypse, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, and more…

X-Men: Apocalypse

Thus far, we’ve received photos of various characters from director Bryan Singer’s upcoming fourth (and final?) merry mutant movie, X-Men: Apocalypse. But thanks to a fan in Australia, we now have an image of the entire team standing together, along with the film’s titular villain and his Horsemen in the form of a moveie theater standee in the Crowne Plaza Coogee Beach-Sydney. While some of the muties, like Psylocke, look better than they appeared in prior images, I’m a little disappointed by the addition of chest/breast plates to the uniform of every new student at Xavier’s school. I get that Charlie’s protective of his younglings, but I long for the days when every superhero wasn’t costumed like they were in the real-world military. Spandex equals fantasy equals awesome…

James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Olivia Munn and Lucas Till star in the May 27 release. [Superherohype] Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows Speaking of the X-Men, and the other comic book heroes they’ve influenced… Like it or not, the Heroes in a Half Shell are heading back to theaters this summer, in Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. A TV spot for the film will play during this Sunday’s Super Bowl. And we’ve got a teaser for said spot right here…

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

And speaking of Bryan Singer… The filmmaker’s long-planned adaptation of the timeless Jules Verne classic 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea will be Singer’s first post-X-Men project. The Fox film will begin shooting in the fall. Says the director, “I’m incredibly excited to be working with my friends at Fox, with whom I’ve had such a long and fruitful relationship. Ever since I was a boy and first discovered the 1870 Jules Verne novel, I have dreamt of retelling this classic story. Without revealing too much, it contains not only the original characters of Captain Nemo, Ned Land and Professor Aronnax, but also some new and original characters and Sci Fi plot twists culminating in a timeless adventure for all ages.”

Lucky Logan

Channing Tatum

Finally today… Acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh is coming out of retirement (yes, again) to direct Channing Tatum (currently appearing at a theater near you in Hail, Caesar!) in Lucky Logan. No one knows yet just what the film is about, though “sources say Soderbergh recently got his hands on the script and quickly fell in love with the premise.”
