Your usual Movie Morsels writer Joe McCabe is out today, so I’ll be serving up some tasty cinematic tidbits for you today. In today’s edition, we have the latest on the Uncharted movie, updates about X-Men: Apocalypse, the names of the writers who will be tackling Universal’s monster movies, and much more.
Uncharted
File this under “fuck yeah”: Sony’s long-simmering Uncharted adaptation has landed a high profile writer in the form of Zero Dark Thirty and The Hurt Locker writer Mark Boal. While Boal, a former journalist, is known for his gritty, visceral action films, he is reportedly a fan of the Uncharted video game series, so he seems like a solid pick to bring the wiseacre adventurer Nathan Drake to life. According to reports, Sony sees Uncharted as “a swashbuckling adventure in the vein of Indiana Jones.â
Boal is the latest name to be attached to the Seth Gordon-directed project. Previously, Mark Wahlberg was attached to star, but dropped out, and Chris Pratt reportedly passed on the project. One thing’s for sure: the film bows on June 12, 2016, but honestly I just want it right now. [ScreenCrush]
X-Men: Apocalypse
Apocalypse or locking lips? That will be the big question in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse, which will reportedly bring the budding romance between Mystique and Magneto into full bloom. According to The Hollywood Reporter:
“Apocalypse is being crafted around Lawrenceâs Mystique character and Michael Fassbenderâs Magneto. A source who has seen the script says Fox will take full advantage of Lawrence and Fassbenderâs star power, placing Mystique and Magnetoâs romance front and center.”
That’s all well and good, but the real question is who will be playing young Storm, and when will we see her in a leather vest and a silver mohawk? [Slashfilm]
Universal Monsters
Because stopping at Dracula: Untold wasn’t enough to qualify under the legal definition of “Monster Mash”, Universal is plugging forward full steam ahead on its shared cinematic monster universe. Currently, screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan are currently rebooting The Mummy for a 2015 release under Kurtzman’s direction. That dynamic duo is being joined by Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners), Noah Hawley (FX’s Fargo), and Ed Solomon (Men in Black) to form a think tank of sorts to develop future films starring Universal’s Classic Monsters. Following The Mummy will be a Guzikowski-penned The Wolfman reboot, which will likely drop in 2017.
Other films planned to join Universal’s shared monsterverse are Dracula, Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, Bride of Frankenstein, and  Van Helsing. Here’s hoping they’ll wise up and realize that The Creature from the Black Lagoon is where it’s at. [Collider]
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
What’s the one thing that all Batman movies are required by law to contain? If you said, “Bruce and Martha Wayne dying”, then go ahead and give yourself fifty points. The latest in the torrent of leaked set photos reveals a movie theater with a familiar-looking poster — namely one for The Mark of Zorro, the film Bruce was seeing with his parents the night they took a fateful walk through Crime Alley. This has lead many fans to believe that we’ll be seeing a reenactment or a flashback to that night in the 2016 film. The better question though is…what if they hadn’t died after all? [ComingSoon]
The Playmobil Movie
Presumably filled with a jealous German rage over the incredible success of The Lego Movie, a movie based on a toy by their dreaded Danish rivals, the makers of Playmobil are developing a feature film adaptation based on their children’s toy. Paris-based ON Entertainment, Wild Bunch, and Pathe are funding an $80 million dollar animated feature under the development direction of DreamWorks alum Bob Persichetti. Keep your eyes on Nerdist.com for the latest on The K’NEX Movie, Erector Set: Origins, and Jenga: An Erotic Thriller. [ComingSoon]
Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb
You can’t keep a good Ben Stiller down, especially when there’s museums that need guarding. The latest trailer for Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb is here and it has everything you’d expect from a movie like this, which is to say a monkey peeing on a minuscule Owen Wilson.
Creed
“You know what the world needs? A Rocky spin-off about Apollo Creed’s grandson,” said no one. Yet here we are nonetheless, and Michael B. Jordan will be reuniting with his Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler for the Rocky spin-off Creed. Jordan will play Creed’s grandson, and real life boxers Tony Bellew and Andre Ward are both in talks to join the project too. And, don’t you worry, Sylvester Stallone will be appearing in the film too as Rocky Balboa, who will serve as a mentor to his late friend’s grandson.  [ScreenRant]

They clearly state that. The article even SAYS Lego’s are Dutch and Plamobile is German. Been reading long?
“*Thomas* and Martha Wayne” FTFY
Playmobil is German, not Dutch
The article states Playmobil is German. The Dutch reference is in regard to LEGO.
LEGO is Danish, not Dutch. That’s the error in the statement.
