Happy New Year, folks! I hope your holiday season was an enjoyably memorable one and that your 2016 is off to a great start. But just in case it isn’t, we’ve got a few things to help it along in today’s Movie Morsels, starting with oodles of mouth-watering new promo art from Captain America: Civil War. Captain America: Civil War

If Star Wars is your new favorite Disney franchise, then good for you. I’m a diehard Marvel man myself, and my most anticipated movie of this new year is by far May 6’s Captain America: Civil War. Let’s take a look at the threequel’s new promo art, unveiled via Hablemos de Marvel… Eh, what’s this? Do I see Clint Barton poised to deploy Scott Lang on an arrow in tribute to one of our favorite Avengers covers ever?!

X-Men: Apocalypse

In order to help usher in 2016, Olivia Munn has been counting down her favorite things about 2015 via Instagram. And number four on her list is starring in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse as everyone’s favorite mutant purple-haired mutant ninja telepath, Psylocke. Munn has shared a new pic of herself in the film, which lands on May 27th. We’re hoping this next X-Men epic will be one of our favorite things about 2016…

“She’s a telekinetic telepath who chooses to kill with a sword,” says Munn, “because she wants to do it up close and intimate because killing from afar just seems too easy and no fun.”

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage

xXx

It isn’t easy coming up with folks worthy enough to appear alongside man-god Vin Diesel on screen. Luckily, the next installment of the xXx franchise, will feature two action favorites. Jet Li and Tony Jaa, as well as Indian actress Deepika Padukone, have been cast in xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, starring Diesel, and the previously announced UFC star Conor McGregor, as well as Samuel L. Jackson. D.J. Caruso directs.

Fifty Shades of Black

With a title like Fifty Shades of Black, Marlon Wayans’ parody of the inexplicable erotic hit Fifty Shades of Grey is guaranteed to enjoy a long and healthy life via Netflix alone. Here’s some New Year’s resolutions from the January 29th release, directed by Michael Tiddes and co-starring Kali Hawk, Jane Seymour, Fred Willard, and Mike Epps…

Lo and Behold Reveries of the Connected World

The always awesome Werner Herzog is back with a new documentary at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. This time around, the German director turns his attention towards our favorite medium of all — the internet! Lo and Behold Reveries of the Connected World is, per the official festival synopsis, “a playful yet chilling examination of our rapidly interconnecting online lives,” featuring interviews with everyone from “pioneers to victims of wireless radiation.” The film debuts in Park City on January 23rd.
