Movie Morsels: Time’s Up for Johnny Depp in Latest ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS Footage

Happy Monday, everyone. Hope you all had a chance to check something out at the theater. And to help prepare you for your moviegoing future, today’s Movie Morsels has a little something for everyone. Including a special Daylight Savings Time-themed TV spot for Alice Through the Looking Glass, a video Easter greeting from The Angry Birds Movie, the latest from Finding Dory, and more!

Alice Through the Looking Glass

Time catches up with all of us. And in the cast of Alice Through the Looking Glass, it has a face, an attitude, and a wicked agenda. Sacha Baron Cohen‘s character is at the center of the sequel’s latest TV spot, which references this weekend’s Daylight Savings Time “spring forward”…

Directed by James Bobin, the May 27th release co-stars Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Rhys Ifans, Helena Bonham Carter, the voice of Alan Rickman (in his final role), Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen, and Timothy Spall.

The Angry Birds Movie

And while we’re talking about timely marketing campaigns…. The Angry Birds Movie wishes you a Happy Easter in its latest video promo, which features the film’s hatchlings. Warning: this thing is so saccharine sweet that it could cause all your teeth to fall out. A glass of vinegar is recommended to accompany viewing…

Angry Birds takes flight on May 20, with Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Maya Rudolph, Bill Hader, and Peter Dinklage voicing for Fergal Reilly and Clay Kaytis.

Finding Dory

The posters we’ve seen thus far for Pixar’s Finding Dory have been curiously void of the title star’s finny friends Nemo and Marlin, leading some to speculate they won’t play much of a role in this sequel. Not to worry, says the new international poster, and puts the boys once more at Dory’s side…

Finding Dory

Finding Dory sees Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres, and Willem Dafoe return to their roles from Finding Nemo, joined this time by Alexander Gould and Ed O’Neill — as Hank the Septipus. Andrew Stanton directs the May 30 release.

Downsizing

Christoph Waltz

Alexander Payne’s sci-fi satire Downsizing has added two-time Oscar winner Christoph Waltz to a cast that already includes Matt Damon and Reese Witherspoon (who worked with Payne in what remains his best film, Election). The film, due out in late 2017, concerns “an Omaha man who joins the throngs of people undergoing a new process that reduces people to a tiny fraction of their size before moving to one of the many communities of small people that are sprouting up around the world.”

Patriots Day

John Goodman

Finally today… With his roles in 10 Cloverfield Lane (a terrifically chilling performance) and the upcoming Kong: Skull Island, there’s a bit of a John Goodman renaissance going on. Good. He’s one of our finest living film actors. And I’m looking forward to seeing still more of the man in the Boston Marathon bombing film Patriots Day. Goodman will play the city’s former police commissioner Ed Davis, alongside Mark Wahlberg and J.K. Simmons. Peter Berg directs the drama, due out on December 21.
