Movie Morsels: Visit STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS’ Most Mysterious Planet

Yes, there is still more to be discovered about Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The only catch: These new discoveries are limited to real life. However, if you prefer to get your kicks in darkened theaters, there’s plenty of other gems in today’s Movie Morsels, including new images from Deadpool, our first look at Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and an update on — don’t kill the messenger, people — Transformers 5. Morselers, roll out!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

This holiday was an especially bright one for many Star Wars fans, with the long-awaited arrival of J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens. And now you can keep that warm holiday glow by visiting the enigmatic new world glimpsed in the film’s final scene. Spoiler alert: Do not continue reading if you not yet seen the film!

In a new video released by Discover Ireland, Abrams and production designer Rick Carter discuss the island of Skellig Michael, on which Rey finally finds Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker in The Force Awakens‘ finale. Like most of Ireland, it’s lush, green, beautiful, and the perfect place for your next nerd pilgrimage. It will also factor into Rian Jonson’s upcoming Episode VIII, so book your tickets now!

Deadpool

Wade Wison’s New Year’s hangover is finally at bay, and the Merc with a Mouth is back in two new stills from the upcoming Deadpool. More importantly, a third still has just been released featuring Morena Baccarin’s Copycat, a character of which relatively little has been seen. Director Tim Miller’s R-rated superhero adaptation lands on February 12th to the delight of all.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

And speaking of offbeat comic book epics, Cara Delevingne will follow up her role as the Enchantress in the upcoming Suicide Squad by starring in Luc Besson’s adaption of the French science-fiction classic Valerian. The actress has just shared the first image from the production’s set, and it already looks to be as grand in scope as the Besson favorite, The Fifth Element

…and so it begins! New film, new family #Valerian

The actress also shared a pic of her character Laureline, as rendered in the comic…

Transformers 5

TRANSFORMERS

Like it or not, Michael Bay will be back to helm Transformers 5, per the director’s remarks in a new Rolling Stone interview…

“I’m doing Transformers5, is it? J.J. [Abrams] told me, ‘You’re the only guy that could do this.’ But it’s time to move on. One more.”

Look at it this way, Bayformers haters: If someone else was assigned Transformers 5 and Bay directed another film, then you’d have two movies to scorn. This way, you’ll only have to deal with one!

And in the In Case You Missed It Department, a new piece of Doctor Strange concept art reveals the design of the mystic mage’s Sanctum Sanctorum. You can check it out here. I can already hear Cumberbatch intoning an incantation within its hallowed halls.
