Lots of new details about Disney/Lucasfilm’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spinoff film are starting to emerge, including the characters’ code names (as revealed in Hasbro’s upcoming Black Series action figures): Felicity Jones is Green Seal Leader, Jiang Wen is Seal Communicator Blue, Forest Whitaker is Eel Commander, and Alan Tudyk is Seal Droid. The villains, meanwhile, will have code names based on sharks. And speaking of villains, the usually reliable Making Star Wars reports that—mild spoiler alert—Ben Mendelsohn is likely to be playing one of Rogue One‘s baddies…

“There is a bad guy or person of some importance to the Empire. His main feature is a huge majestic white cape with a slit in the back. In the film there is a beautiful shot of this Imperial treading through a shallow body of water with said cape trailing him. The figure that wears it appears to be an older male. I’m told he has a badass sidearm and a really cool name. We’re fairly certain this is Ben Mendelsohn’s character but that’s not 100% or verified at this time.”

Alice Through the Looking Glass

Last month we lost one of our favorite living actors, Alan Rickman. But the versatile thespian has one last screen role to give us: the voice of the Blue Caterpillar in Disney’s Alice through the Looking Glass. Two new TV spots for the May 27 release have just landed online, featuring Rickman’s unmistakably exquisite tones, alongs with co-stars Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Mia Wasikowska, and Sacha Baron Cohen…

Thor: Ragnarok

Hulk and Thor

Will the Hulk speak in Thor: Ragnarok? (Beyond uttering catchphrases like “Puny God,” that is.) Director Taika Waititi says it’s currently being discussed…

“It’s interesting, because at the moment, there’s a big conversation that’s happening about how far to push that. Whether or not The Hulk should be [verbal/conscious]… I think a lot of those conversations have more to do with what’s going to come up in future movies. So I think a lot of those decisions are larger group decisions, rather than anything to do with just me or the writer. They have a lot of stuff that they have to consider. But I do think that’s the best way to track it. I think we all want that. I think we all want to see that development and the evolution of that character. I also think you can do it in a fun way.”

Triple 9

Triple 9

Finally today… One thing’s for sure about director John Hillcoat’s heist thriller Triple 9: it has what is by far the most impressive cast of any film released so far this year, including Woody Harrelson, Kate Winslet, Casey Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Aaron Paul, Gal Gadot, Teresa Palmer, Norman Reedus, and Anthony Mackie. You can watch a new TV spot for this tale of cops blackmailed by the Russian mob into turning criminal by going here. Sorry, but we can’t embed this video on out site. (I know, click exhaustion.)
