While we eagerly await the release of Wade Wilson’s first solo feature film, star Ryan Reynolds is already talking Deadpool sequels. Also in today’s Movie Morsels, the latest on Jason Bourne, The Divergent Series: Allegiant, Tom Hiddleston‘s High-Rise, and more!
Deadpool
With his long-awaited Deadpool finally arriving in theaters this week, Ryan Reynolds is reaffirming his commitment to seeing the Merc with a Mouth’s comrades follow him to the big screen. Speaking with FILMSTARTS, the actor remarks…
“Thereâs so much material to mine in just the X-Men universe… In the future, if weâre doing a bunch more Deadpool movies, weâre really going to explore the X-Men a lot. Weâll see. And maybe X-Force — X-Force is my priority. I really want to get that in.”
Jason Bourne
Hot on the heels of its first-look Super Bowl spot, Matt Damon enlightens us as to where we’ll find his superspy when he makes his return in director Paul Greengrass’ Jason Bourne.
In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Damon explains, “Heâs living with the same things as he was before, and then he goes to find Julia Stilesâ character, who basically says, ‘Just because you remember everything, doesnât mean you know everything.’ So you find him in a place thatâs dark and unresolved.”
The actor adds that, “This is the completion of this journey that started in The Bourne Identity. Itâs part of the first three [movies], itâs not a whole new chapter. It feels like the conclusion, even though weâre not saying itâs the conclusion, it feels like the conclusion of my identity journey. It goes deeper than Ultimatum, basically.”
High-Rise
Tom Hiddleston’s crystalline voice is the highlight of the latest trailer for High-Rise, director Ben Wheatley’s adaptation of J.G. Ballard’s classic novel. The film co-stars Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller, Luke Evans, Elisabeth Moss, James Purefoy, and Keeley Hawes, and opens next month in the UK. A US release date has not yet been announced, but as a fan of all things Hiddles, Ballard, and (what looks to be inspired by) Cronenberg, I cannot wait…
The Divergent Series: Allegiant
March 18 sees the release of the second to last Divergent Series film, Allegiant, and Teen Vogue has released five character posters featuring stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Zoë Kravitz, Miles Teller, and Ansel Elgort. Is it just me or does Teller’s face seem to be saying, “Go ahead and punch me. I only have to make one more of these movies”…
Frozen
Disney has just announced that Frozen‘s Anna and Elsa, in addition to starring in their forthcoming Broadway musical, will get their very own holiday special next year. Will they sing “Let It Snow” to the tune of “Let It Go” or “Let It Go” to the tune of “Let It Snow”? Christmas 2017 holds the answer.
