We’ve got a whole helluva lot going on in today’s Movie Morsels… Rebel Wilson could be the first new Ghostbuster in twenty-five years! Disney announces Star Wars: The Force Awakens theme park attractions! Hot Tub Time Machine 2‘s trailer looks funnier than we dared hope! Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill could battle aliens as 23 Jump Street might become Men in Black 3! (Swear to God I’m not making that last one up.) All this and more awaits you below!
Ghostbusters III
One of the funniest ladies in movies today has entered discussions for Sony’s next Ghostbusters movie, as she revealed on yesterday’s TODAY show. If director Paul Feig’s film indeed has an all-female cast — whether it takes the form of a sequel, reboot, or a little bit of both — I honestly can’t think of many young actresses so suited to wield a neutrino wand. Wilson next appears in this month’s Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, which she’ll follow with Pitch Perfect 2, in which she returns as Fat Amy on May 15, 2015.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Since purchasing Star Wars, Disney has said it plans to give the franchise’s films a larger presence in its theme parks. But we finally have a little info regarding those plans. CEO Bob Iger revealed on Wednesday that while development was underway for new attractions based on the six films to date, that development was slowed when J.J. Abrams’ The Force Awakens moved forward, in order to integrate the upcoming films’ elements. Now the Imagineers at Disney’s parks are moving full steam ahead with the knowledge of what’s to come in both Abrams’ movie and the spin-off films. No word on whether the resulting attractions will be unique to those movies or meld all Star Wars films they possibly can into each theme park experience. Out first look at what we can expect should arrive next year. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out in theaters December 18, 2015.

Hot Tub Time Machine 2
Is it just me or does anyone else think a Hot Tub Time Machine TV show would be completely awesome? I don’t even care who stars in it, the premise alone is drool-worthy. Like Back to the Future with nards. Anyway, the trailer for Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (due out on February 20th from director Steve Pink) has arrived, and one of its characters — Rob Cordry’s Lou Dorchen — has penned a hilarious letter of introduction.

23 Jump Street
Sony may not have the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or even Universal’s upcoming rebooted Monster Universe, but they may have found an unprecedented way to create their own multi-franchise reality — out of two distinctly different film series. Discussion has reportedly been held to continue the studio’s Jump Street series by having Channing Tatum’s Jenko and Jonah Hill’s Schmidt join the Men in Black, merging their two cinematic worlds into one film series. It sounds like one of those rare decisions that’s smart from both a business and creative standpoint, since Jump Street is hugely successful right now, and Men in Black is just too big a brand name for Sony not to reboot the sci-fi series (now that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are done with it). Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller would apparently produce the film for release in 2016 or 2017.
It Follows
Few new fright films are generating the word of mouth of It Follows. David Robert Mitchell’s follow-up to The Myth of the American Sleepover has played Cannes, Toronto and Fantastic Fest; and it’ll screen at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival. But it first debuts in France, where this tale of a teen girl (The Guest‘s Maika Monroe) cursed by a “sexually transmitted haunting” has resulted in a sensational new trailer.

So many typos in so little space.
I wish Disney would just open up a new separate theme park that focuses around Marvel and Star Wars and aim it at older kids and adults. I think it would do well!
