Movie Morsels: New X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Footage and BLADE RUNNER 2 Casting News

Breathe easy, my fellow film fanatics, as we’ve made it to yet another Friday. But before you head out to the theaters this weekend, check out today’s Movie Morsels, which is overflowing with goodness. Included are the latest from X-Men: Apocalypse, Blade Runner 2, The Dark Tower, and so much more!

X-Men: Apocalypse

As has been the case with Captain America: Civil War, licensees/sponsors for Fox’s X-Men: Apocalypse have begun releasing new tie-in ads for their products, and with them comes some new footage from the film. The latest such commercials come from a most unexpected source: Coldwell Banker. See what I mean below…

The fourth X-Men film from director Bryan Singer stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Olivia Munn, and Lucas Till. It lands on May 27 in 2D and 3D.

Blade Runner 2

Knock Knock

The casting isn’t over for Blade Runner 2. No sir! Joining Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright, and Dave Bautista in the film is Cuban-Spanish actress Ana de Armas (pictured on right above), best known for starring in Eli Roth’s recent Knock Knock. Will De Armas play a human or a replicant? With those hypnotic hazel eyes of hers, I know how I’m betting… Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the Blade Runner sequel arrives on October 6, 2017.

The Dark Tower

Fran Kranz

In other casting news… Fran Kranz, star of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse and The Cabin in the Woods, has signed on to co-star in The Dark Tower. Based on the epic Stephen King saga, the film features Idris Elba as Roland the Gunslinger and Matthew McConaughey as his arch-nemesis, the Man in Black. Kranz will play the Man in Black’s sidekick, Pimli, in this Nikolaj Arcei-directed adaptation.

Sherlock Holmes 3

Like it or not, Robert Downey Jr. isn’t done with his second most successful film franchise. The actor has agreed to take on the iconic role of master sleuth Sherlock Holmes in a third film directed by Guy Ritchie. “If we could shoot it on Skype,” says Downey, “we could have the whole [movie] done in a week. When we’re making those Sherlock movies it is off the hook. [So] we’ll attempt to make one this year. It really is a big deal to go and do those movies. I’m tired all the time, but I’m so excited about it.”

Avatar

Since Walt Disney World’s Avatar attraction was announced at last year’s D23 Expo, fans have been wondering how closely it will resemble the alien world depicted in James Cameron’s last megablockbuster. Now our best video look at the film yet has bowed and you can see for yourself how Pandora: The World of Avatar will measure up when it arrives in the resort’s Animal Kingdom in 2017…

Cafe Society

Finally today… Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart just can’t keep away from one another, can they? After co-starring in Adventureland and last year’s American Ultra, they’re reuniting again for Woody Allen’s latest, Cafe Society, which opens this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Here’s the first trailer for the ensemble comedy, also featuring Steve Carell, Anna Camp, and Blake Lively…
