Movie Morsels: New GHOSTBUSTERS Reboot Teaser Poster Goes Retro

Smile, America—we’ve got a short work week! So let’s get it started with the latest from the new Ghostbusters. Plus, goodies from Alice Through the Looking Glass, 10 Cloverfield Lane, and more. All in today’s Movie Morsels…

Ghostbusters

With the first Ghostbusters reboot trailer arriving next month, Sony has gifted us with the teaser poster for the film, which looks… Well, an awful lot like the original film’s teaser poster. But with the addition of some cool lighting and smoke effects and a metal emboss to the logo to give it a kind of classic ’80s vibe. I’m digging it… Hey, did you know the original “No ghosts” logo was conceived by Dan Aykroyd (it’s in the film’s script) and designed by associate producer Michael Gross? (Sadly, Gross passed away a few months ago after a long battle with cancer.) It was originally intended to be used on the team’s uniforms and vehicle, but everyone liked it so much that it became the focal point of the film’s entire marketing campaign, which of course included the poster. Enjoy that Movie Morsels fun fact!

Alice Through the Looking Glass

Disney dropped a new Alice Through the Looking Glass preview during last night’s Grammy Awards. But to further stoke fans’ interest, the studio also released a new motion poster. Its psychadelic vibe is entirely appropo for a tale that inspired the Jefferson Airplane’s drug anthem “White Rabbit”…

Alice Through the Looking Glass is directed by James Bobin and stars Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Rhys Ifans, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sacha Baron Cohen, and features the voices of Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen, and Timothy Spall. The film opens on May 27.

10 Cloverfield Lane

During Sunday night’s epic midseason premiere of The Walking Dead, Paramount unveiled a very cool preview for its upcoming Bab Robot jam 10 Cloverfield Lane. While not a sequel to Cloverfield, the film is said by producer J.J. Abrams to share some of its “DNA.” See for yourself…

Sing

Alright, alright, alright… Matthew McConaughey is an entrepreneurial koala determined to save his theater from oblivion by hosting the world’s greatest singing contest in Illumination’s Sing. Will the animated film out-anthropomorphize Zootopia? You can find out when it bows on December 21, 2016. Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Tori Kelly, John C. Reilly, Taron Egerton, and Scarlett Johansson round out the voice cast.
