Mad Max: Fury Road
Only two days left until we all get to reenter Max Rockatansky’s world of fire and blood. So let’s get stoked with two new behind the scenes featurettes from writer-director George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road, examining Nicholas Hoult’s crazed Nux and film’s central MacGuffin: the Five Wives of the villainous Immortan Joe. Jem and the Holograms
Besides debuting the trailer for Jem and the Holograms, Universal has unveiled the poster for the Jason Blum-produced live-action adaptation of the ’80s animated musical TV fave. Starring Aubrey Peeples as the “truly outrageous” one, Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau, and Hayley Kiyoko as her bandmates, Ryan Guzman as her love interest Rio, Molly Ringwald as her aunt, and Juliette Lewis as her arch-enemy, the film is directed by Jon M. Chu (of G.I. Joe: Retaliation). Jem and the Holograms opens on October 23rd.
Barely Lethal
Want to watch Samuel Jackson train teen assassin Hailee Steinfeld in the upcoming action comedy Barely Lethal? Yeah, you know you do. Co-starring Jessica Alba as Steinfeld’s former mentor now enemy and Game of Thrones‘ Sophie Turner as a rival assassin, Barely Lethal arrives in theaters and On Demand on May 29th.

Colossal
And the award for Weirdest News of the Day goes to Colossal, a giant monster movie to be directed by Nacho Vigalondo (best known for helming Timecrimes and karaoking with Elijah Wood and the RZA). Anne Hathaway has just been cast in the film as Gloria, “an ordinary woman who, after losing her job and her fiancé, decides to leave her life in New York to move back to her hometown,” only to find that she shares a psychic link with — I shit you not — a kaiju destroying Tokyo. Vigalondo remarks, “Colossal is my most ambitious script so far, and probably also the most personal one. Having Anne and this terrific team around goes beyond my craziest expectations.” And ours, Nacho. And ours.
The Circle
Alicia Vikander steals every scene she’s in as Ava, the title AI in Alex Garland’s brilliant Ex Machina. So it’s unsurprising that Hollywood has taken note of the star’s considerable talents. Vikander (pictured above in Son of a Gun) has just been cast opposite Tom Hanks in The Circe, directed by Spectacular Now helmer James Ponsoldt and based on Dave Eggers’ cyber thriller about “the perils of life in a digital age where personal data is collected, sifted and monetized and used for surveillance, rendering privacy obsolete.” Hanks, who’s also producing the film (with Image Nation), is quite the fan of the writer’s work, since he’s already starring in another Eggers adaptation, Tom Tykwer’s upcoming A Hologram for the King. The Circle begins shooting this August in California.
Paper Towns
Before she weaves a spell as the Enchantress in next year’s Suicide Squad, Cara Delevingne is set to enchant us in an altogether different way in Paper Towns, based on Fault in Our Stars author John Green’s YA romance. The film, which pairs Delevingne opposite Nat Wolff, is directed by Robot and Frank‘s Jake Schreier and opens on July 24th. Here’s a new TV spot.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
And speaking of Delevingne, Luc Besson just revealed on Twitter that the actress will be starring with Dane DeHaan in his next project, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, based on the hugely popular French science-fiction comic book that helped inspire Besson’s own The Fifth Element. The director has also tweeted the logo for the film…
