Movie Morsels: INDIANA JONES Will Not Be Recast after All

If you’re a Harrison Ford fan, you’ve got a lot to be happy about these days. For not only will Ford return to the role that made him famous in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but the actor will not be retiring from his other most famous role, that of Indiana Jones, when the archaeologist-adventurer snaps his whip in a fifth film adventure. Also in today’s Movie Morsels, a new Creed TV spot, the latest on John Wick 2, Kong: Skull Island, and more!

Indiana Jones 5

Indiana Jones

Sorry, Christopher Pratt. It sounds like the iconic role of Indiana Jones will not be recast after all. In a new interview with Total Film, Indy film producer Frank Marshall remarks…

“There are a lot of rumours. We haven’t even sat down to talk about Indy yet… at some point we’ll sit down. But there’s a bunch of people who could probably take the baton… We’re not doing the Bond thing where we’re going to call somebody else Indiana Jones… We have to figure this out.”

Both Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg have both said they’re up for a fifth Indiana Jones movie. Hopefully, with all due respect, George Lucas won’t be back, since it’s been widely reported that his ideas for Kingdom of the Crystal are what turned that misfire’s story into such a mess.

John Wick 2

John-Wick

Wondering who will menace Keanu Reeves in the sequel to his surprise sleeper hit John Wick? Wonder no more. Actor-rapper Common will play the film’s Big Bad, “a head of security for a female crime lord.” Directed by Chad Stahelski, John Wick 2 starts shooting this week.

Bad Moms

While Leslie Mann and her husband Judd Apatow were previously attached to the comedy Bad Moms, we now hear that three other funny ladies — Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, and Christina Applegate — will headline the film. Written and directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, the movie will be moving from Paramount to STX Entertainment. Here’s the official description:

“Like most modern mothers, Amy takes care of everyone but herself. Her life is perfect: a happy marriage, overachieving kids, a beautiful home, and 365 good-hair days a year. She bakes for the school bake sale and chairs every committee – all the while holding down a career. And, she makes it all look easy. But just under the surface, Amy is at her breaking point — too over-worked, over-committed, and over-exhausted to take one more demand from anyone. Why work so hard for so little appreciation? What would happen if she did what she wanted for a change? Fed up, Amy joins forces with two other over-stressed moms, leading them on a quest to liberate themselves from conventional responsibilities, going on a wild un-mom like binge of freedom, fun and self-indulgence — accidentally landing on a collision course with PTA Queen Bee Gwendolyn and her blindly devoted clique of ‘perfect’ moms.”

Kong: Skull Island

King Kong

Finally, we’ve received word that King Kong spin-off Kong: Skull Island will, like so many other films these days (from the latest Pirates of the Caribbean to Thor: Ragarok), shoot in Queensland, Australia. Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson star in this for director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. Pre-production begins this month, and shooting starts early next year for a release on March 10, 2017.
