Hey there, shield slingers! Another new day brings us another new round of goodies from Captain America: Civil War. This time, we’ve got three very stylish new posters for the film. Also in today’s Movie Morsels, we have your first ever look at Furious 8, the latest on Star Trek Beyond, and more!
Captain America: Civil War
Hurray for AMC! First the theater chain says it will not go ahead with plans to allow texting at some film screenings and now it’s unveiled three new Captain America: Civil War IMAX posters. Featuring sleek designs that offer a welcome alternative to the Photoshopped monstrosities that usually pass for movie posters these days, these exclusives will be available the first three Sundays of the filmâs release: May 8, May 15, and May 22. They’re illustrated by Matt Ferguson, who did the nifty disc art for the Marvel Phase One and Two box sets…

Furious 8
Our old pal, Vin Diesel is offering the very first poster for Furious 8 today. And though it promises “New Roads Ahead,” one can’t help but notice how melancholy it looks. Diesel’s Dom stands by himself, gazing uncertainly into the distance, into the future, without his friends and family (most significantly, of course, the late Paul Walker’s Brian). Will the film itself have a more somber tone than its predecessors did?

Star Trek Beyond
Actor-writer Simon Pegg had a few choice things to say about Star Trek Beyond at last week’s CinemaCon 2016 in Las Vegas. Speaking with Coming Soon, Pegg remarked that fan support has informed this film more than the previous rebooted Trek franchise entries…
âWe had the entirety of Star Trek history at our disposal and itâs always there online. Thereâs an amazing Wikipedia online called Memory Alpha. It became Doug [Jung] and my resource and the place that weâd turn to whenever we wanted to know, âWhat kind of weapons does an NX vessel carry?â Memory Alpha has it. We actually wrote to the Memory Alpha guys and got them to name a certain device in the movie. I sent them a letter saying, âCan you come up with this for me?â In two hours, they came back with an entire etymological history of what the thing was. Itâs beautiful. Itâs fantastic to have that support network.”
Some fans are now wondering if an NX vessel in the mode of Star Trek: Enterprise‘s titular ship will factor into the plot, especially with the NCC-1701 looking rather trashed in the film’s trailer. One thing’s for certain, the film won’t rip off, er, borrow, from Search for Spock the way that Into Darkness lifted whole scenes from Wrath of Khan…
âNo, although we were obviously aware of the coincidence of those two films. That might be a little nod for fans perhaps, but itâs certainly not something that the film depends upon or has any relationship to the plot of the previous Star Trek III.â
Now You See Me 2
Last but by no means least today, we have the latest poster for Now You See Me 2. And while it doesn’t feature the oh-so-stylish art of the Civil War posters above, it does have some interesting design choices that call to mind the mod movie posters of the ’60s…
