Movie Morsels: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2’s First Video Look at Chris Pratt in Action

Happy April Fools’ Day, everyone! But don’t expect any fake-outs, faux news, or trickery in today’s Movie Morsels. Just 100 percent grade A bonafide bits of pure cinematic sweetness. Including some way cool behind-the-scenes video footage from the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set, the latest on the new Dungeons & Dragons movie, and much more!

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

I can’t think of any happier sight with which to start off this Friday than that of Peter Quill back in the pilot’s seat of the Milano and engaged in evasive maneuvers. So a hearty thank you to man-god Chris Pratt for sharing the best behind-the-scenes look at Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 we’ve seen yet!

Dungeons & Dragons

Rob Letterman

Heads up, Dungeons & Dragons fans. The cinematic reboot of the pioneering role-playing game has finally found itself a director in one Rob Letterman. The filmmaker did a not-so-bad job of bringing R.L Stine’s Goosebumps to the screen last year (he’s pictured above on the film’s set), so I’m cautiously optimistic about what he’ll do with a project as ambitious as this one. And with both Warcraft and Assassin’s Creed films on the way, there’s really no good reason why we can’t have a movie based on the fantasy gaming phenomenon that started it all. And hey, at the very least, you just know it’s gonna be better than the infamous 2000 film adaptation!

Rose Red

Snow White

Did you know that Snow White had a sister named Rose Red? It’s true, and her story was also penned by the Brothers Grimm, though it had very little to do with the immortal fairy tale that birthed Disney’s first animated feature film. That’s not, however, stopping the studio from developing a live-action version of the tale, told from the perspective of Rose. Disney’s Maleficent wasn’t all that great, but the Mouse House seemed to learn from its mistakes with last year’s excellent live-action Cinderella. Fingers crossed that this retelling is also a winner.

Everybody Wants Some!!

After bowing at last month’s SXSW, Richard Linklater’s “spiritual sequel” to Dazed and Confused has been drawing praise from most everyone who’s seen it (including our own Luke). And today, we have the latest trailer and two brand-new clips from Everybody Wants Some!!. All signs point to this love letter to the 1980s as the most satisfying film of the summer that doesn’t star a Marvel superhero…

New Mutants

Game of Thrones

Last but not least… Rumors ran rampant across the Internet yesterday that Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams was to play Wolfsbane in Fox’s take on Marvel’s New Mutants. Alas, Fox has denied the news. But as a big fan of both Williams and the teenage Scottish werewolf I’m praying this dream casting could somehow, someday become a reality.
