Ghost in the Shell
Fresh off an electrifying turn in The Wolf of Wall Street, Margot Robbie is reportedly in talks to star in a live-action English-language version of Ghost in the Shell. The film, written by Bill Wheeler, is based off of the original Masamune Shirow manga rather than the Mamoru Oshii film. Presumably, Robbie will play a version of Motoko Kusanagi, but the real question is WILL THEY STILL HAVE THE TACHIKOMA! America demands their spider tanks, damn it! [Slashfilm]
Justice League
Could Benedict Cumberbatch be joining the Justice League? The latest rumors say so. Reports are coming in that Benedict Cumberbatch is being eyed to play Martian Manhunter in Warner Bros. and DC’s Justice League flick, or a major villain role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The star played coy on the GQ Men of the Year awards red carpet, but that seems exactly like what J’onn J’onnz would say if you ask me. [JoBlo]
Shazam
In case you didn’t smell what he was cooking, The Rock confirmed yesterday that he will be playing Black Adam in Warner Bros. and DC’s Shazam film. At last, The People of Kahndaq’s Elbow will make it to the silver screen.
In other Shazam news, the president of New Line Toby Emmerich has revealed a number of other details about the production. “Shazam will have a tone unto itself,” said Emmerich. “It’s a DC Comic, but it’s not a Justice League character, and it’s not a Marvel comic. The tone and the feeling of the movie will be different from the other range of comic book movies.” Although the film has no official release date, Emmerich confirmed that screenwriter Darren Lemke will be penning the script. “…you could just log off…” I don’t understand this nonsense.
I think there was a mistake in the Dracula Untold section. The movie is staying “in its coffin for one more week” by being released one week earlier?
