Movie Morsels: First Look at DEADPOOL’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead, New BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Details

Hope everyone’s Fourth of July was a blast, but if not, no worries — there’s plenty of fireworks still to come at this week’s San Diego Comic-Con. Before we head south for the concussive blast of entertainment news, however, we’ve got some firepower to share with you in today’s Movie Morsels, which features the very first studio authorized image of Deadpool‘s Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Plus, we’ve got the latest image of Harley Quinn on the set of Suicide Squad, new details on Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, new pics from Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and a tantalizing look at the role Matt Smith‘s Terminator Genisys character could play in any future sequels!

Suicide Squad

While we Americans were celebrating the Fourth of July last week, another celebration was taking place up in Canada on the set of Suicide Squad: star Margot Robbie’s birthday, which she celebrated with one of the coolest Harley Quinn cakes we’ve yet seen while dressed in her character’s costume. Director David Ayer’s DC antihero epic, co-starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, and Viola Davis, hits theaters on August 5th, 2016.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Batman v Superman 2

Hot on the heels of last week’s exclusive photos from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in Entertainment Weekly, the magazine, in its new Comic-Con 2015 preview issue, offers some details on three scenes from the Zack Snyder-directed film.

In one, “almost comically grim” scene, Wayne Manor is described as a “derelict husk [with] strewn leaves across the floor… Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) and his loyal butler, Alfred (Jeremy Irons), are gravely intoning their lines into a burned-out fireplace, as Bruce prepares for his Valley of Elah moment with Superman. The billionaire vigilante appears weary but determined, not unlike the actor portraying him.”

A second scene Snyder showed the magazine was “the money sequence, a rainy rooftop battle between the two capes. There’s an undeniable thrill to watching these pop culture icons go at it — throwing each other through walls and skylights.”

Finally, “Snyder also reveals a scene in the Batcave where Bruce Wayne outlines his motivations to a skeptical Alfred, a bit of realpolitik reasoning that weighs the morality of a preemptive strike on Superman against even the minimal chance of humanity’s destruction.”

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Gal Gadot, arrives on March 25, 2016 in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D.

Deadpool

Several spy photos of Deadpool‘s Negasonic Teenage Warhead recently leaked out from the film’s set, but we’ve now got our first studio-sanctioned pic of the young heroine (played by Brianna Hildebrand) who looks to bring new meaning to the term “angsty.” Fox has released the following image via Empire featuring the character who first appeared in 2001’s New X-Men #115, written by Grant Morrison and illustrated by Frank Quitely). Director Tim Miller’s Deadpool — also starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, and T.J. Miller — arrives on February 12, 2016.

Terminator Genisys

Matt Smith

And speaking of Matt Smith… (*Spoiler Alert*) If you were hoping the former Doctor Who would play a larger role in the just-released Terminator Genisys, screenwriters Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier explain how the actor’s character will play a larger role in the films to come, should they be greenlit. Here’s an excerpt of their interview with Crave Online…

“You see in the beginning,” says Kalogridis. “[Matt Smith] grabs John. He’s not from this timeline. He’s from an alternate universe, in the multiverse. Another of the many universes that exist. That Skynet is not from that timeline… This Skynet has been to this universe, and this universe, and this universe. That’s why he says, ‘I came a very long way to stop you.’ He’s not from here. So he’s watched it. He’s watched it happen a bunch of different times, and each time he’s seen it there is a different result but the same result.”

Smith’s character, they add, “has the ability to traverse the Terminator multiverse, witnessing repeated fates involving Sarah and John Connor taking on the machines.”
