For most of us, Memorial Day Weekend marks the official start of summer. And there’s no film that says summer 2016 better than Finding Dory. So let’s kick off this holiday weekend with the first two clips from the Pixar sequel. In today’s Movie Morsels, we’ve also got new clips from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, new posters for Star Trek Beyond, and a whole lot more for you to see before you fire up that barbecue!
Finding Dory
Everyone’s favorite tubular turtle Crush is back in the very first clip from Finding Dory. Voiced once more by director Andrew Stanton, the dude really hasn’t changed all that much…
The folks at Pixar also hid a secret second clip online (discovered by our friends at Comicbook.com), in which the film’s forgetful heroine meets her newest friend Hank, a seven-armed octopus in need of her help. The clip is the first part of a new Google Search experiment, in which anyone searching for âFinding Doryâ on the browser can, up until the film’s release, access new goodies like featurettes, images, and video interviews with the cast. Enjoy!
Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates
If the rest of Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates is a funny as the following clip, then, after Neighbors 2, Zac Efron will have starred in two of this summer’s best comedies. Of course it’s Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plazaâconniving con artists who take advantage of Efron and Adam Levine’s charactersâwho generate the most laughs here…
Star Trek Beyond
Star Trek Beyond has been on a roll lately. Since Friday, we’ve seen a new, much-improved trailer and a slew of new character posters, the latest of which feature Zachary Quinto’s Spock and Anton Yelchin’s Chekov. I’ll admit that of the Trek reboot’s Big Three (Kirk, Spock, and McCoy), I find it’s the Vulcan science officer who’s always borne the least resemblance to his original iteration (by the immortal Leonard Nimoy). But since most of what we’ve seen from Beyond looks like a big improvement over the two previous Bad Robot Treks, I’m eager to see if Spock 2.0 finally cuts the mustard…
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
Speaking of new and improved… Much, much more so than its predecessor did, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows looks like the sequel is keeping in mind those of us who most loved the Heroes in a Half Shell back in their ’80s heyday, all the while infusing it with a knowing sense of humor. Check out these two latest clips to see what I mean…
And here are two new featurettes focusing on the film’s very photogenic human stars: Megan Fox and Stephen Amell…
The God Particle
Funnyman Chris O’Dowd (pictured above in Bridesmaids) and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon‘s Ziyi Zhang are the two latest actors to sign on for the J.J. Abrams-produced The God Particle. O’Dowd will play one of several crew members aboard a space station who are faced with the sudden disappearance of the Earth. He’ll replace John Krasinski, who was originally up for his part in the science-fiction thriller, opening on February 24, 2017.
Deepwater Horizon
The trailer for a very different kind of thriller, one based on a real life tragedy, has just hit the web. Deepwater Horizon features Mark Wahlberg and Kurt Russell in a film based on the infamous 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Directed by Peter Berg, it’s due out on September 30, 2016.
Abattoir
Horror fans who loved Darren Lynn Bousman’s Saw sequels and his cult favorite muscal Repo! The Genetic Opera might be interested in the director’s latest effort, which makes its world premiere in the “Nightfall” section of next month’s Los Angeles Film Festival. Abattoir began as a 2010 comic penned by the filmmaker. 90210 star Jessica Lowndes is featured in the following creepy clip, in which her character in the film visits the house of her murdered sister…
