Captain Marvel

Edge of Tomorrow

Emily Blunt says she hasn’t received a call yet from Marvel, but, since she’s apparently one of the names in discussion for the Captain Marvel title role, the actress, in the midst of promoting Into the Woods, says she’s definitely up for it. “Let’s just call Marvel about that right now,” explains Blunt, “We’ll call Kevin Feige about that… How awesome. I love this.”

2016 Star Wars Spin-Off Movie

Gareth Edwards

With all the excitement for this week’s debut of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer, there hasn’t been much buzz lately about Godzilla director Gareth Edwards 2016 spin-off film. Until now, that is. Rumors are circulating that the film could be a prequel focusing on the theft of the plans for the original Death Star by a gang of bounty hunters, one of which could be Boba Fett. Of course all this must be taken be a with a Star Destroyer-sized grain of salt, but a Star Wars-style heist film would be a hoot.

The Interview

The final trailer for Seth Rogen and James Franco’s latest yukfest The Interview has just landed, and, as expected, it’s hilarious. Watch the boys meet Kim Jong-Un and discuss Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, and Franco’s weakness for puppies (as well as his propensity for “pulling out”) in the video below. The Interview debuts on December 25th.

Writer Mark Powers and artist Chris Lie’s critically acclaimed comic book Drafted (published by Devil’s Due) is heading to the big screen, courtesy of Benderspink Productions. “The sci-fi epic feature project will follow the story of Earth’s first contact with aliens who arrive to warn humanity of an impending intergalactic invasion. Men, women, and children are conscripted into the battle to save both races’ existence, but just as the invaders are defeated, humans learn they may have been helping the wrong side all along… Powers, original publisher Josh Blaylock of Devil’s Due, and Benderspink will develop the property for the screen and are eyeing large-scale potential for the military sci-fier.”

Paddington

Paddington

In the kind of match-up between artists and film that we never saw coming but is welcome nonetheless, Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani are lending their songwriting skills and distinct vocal talents to “Shine”, a track from the upcoming Nicole Kidman-starring CG-fest Paddington, which is based on Michael Bond’s children’s books. “The film will be released in the U.S. and Canada on Jan. 16 by The Weinstein Co. with a qualifying Academy Awards run in December. The song is not included in the British version of the film, due out Friday. Williams and Stefani previously teamed up on ‘Hollaback Girl,’ ‘Can I Have It Like That’ and ‘Spark the Fire.'”
