James Bond 24

Christoph Waltz

Oh dear God, please let this be true… The latest rumor to swirl around the as yet untitled twenty-fourth James Bond film is that the villain will be played by Oscar winner Christoph Waltz. While some may find this to be a lazy casting choice — based on how well Waltz has already acquitted himself as the embodiment of screen evil — I myself can’t get enough of the idiosyncratic actor. Of course it’s still not clear if Waltz’s character will be friend or foe. According to Daily Mail columnist Baz Bamigboye:

“I am told that the part is a complex one. ‘It’s not immediately evident whether the part’s friend, or foe, or a bit of both,’ a person who has knowledge of the screenplay told me.”

The MGM-Sony follow-up to Skyfall will arrive in the US on November 6, 2015 and the in the UK on October 23, 2015.

Avengers: Age of Ultron

In case you needed another reason to watch Guardians of the Galaxy at home when it arrives on DVD and Blu-ray on December 9th, Marvel has just released a trailer featuring a couple of quick shots of Age of Ultron footage in the disc’s special features.

Avengers: Age of Ultron, as all good nerds know, debuts on May 1st.

Second Born

Park Chan-Wook

Oldboy helmer Park Chan-Wook is back in action with the sci-fi thriller Second Born.

“Second Born, based on an original screenplay by David Jagernauth, takes place in a futuristic world in which neural microchip implants are used to store one’s consciousness, leading to black market body-swapping.”

A Most Violent Year

Jessica Chastain explains to district attorney David Oyelowo why she is someone you absolutely do not want to screw around with (in case Zero Dark Thirty didn’t make that point clear) in the first clip from A Most Violent Year, co-starring Oscar Isaac and Albert Brooks. The film is due in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on December 31st, and will expand its release in early 2015.

Dumb and Dumber To

Even if you remain indifferent to Dumb and Dumber To — now playing in theaters everywhere — you should know there’s a quirky little cameo tucked inside it that should interest most every movie fan. And no it’s not Jennifer Lawrence, a huge fan of the original who was previously reported to be making a cameo appearance in the sequel. Spoiler alert: the entire cameo is captured in the following clip:

Yes, that masked man — an homage to Breaking Bad‘s Walter White — is none other than cameo king Bill Murray, who of course worked with Dumb and Dumber To directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly on Kingpin.
