Movie Morsels: Bono’s Daughter to Play ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS’ Maid Marion

Happy Friday, everyone! And it’s a happier one than usual, seeing as how there’s so much good stuff playing in theaters. But before you head to your local multiplex, take a peek at what’s on the cinematic horizon in today’s Movie Morsels. We’ve got the latest on Robin Hood: Origins, Furious 8, and The Night Before, as well as a new trailer for Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, and a new poster for SPECTRE. Enjoy!

Robin Hood: Origins

The Knick

Robin Hood: Origins has found its Maid Marion in Eve Hewson, the twenty-four-year-old Irish-born daughter of Bono and social and environmental activist Ali Hewson. The actress is best known for her role on Cinemax’s The Knick, and appears in Steven Spielberg’s latest, Bridge of Spies. She’ll join Kingsman: The Secret Service star Taron Egerton, who plays the film’s title role. Production begins next summer after Egerton completes work on Kingsman 2. Perky Blinders helmer Otto Bathurst directs… It’s been a while since we’ve had a Robin Hood film that was even entertaining, let alone good. Fingers crossed this one does the trick.

SPECTRE

Perhaps getting into the Halloween spirit, James Bond wears a most ominous mask in the latest poster for SPECTRE, which star Daniel Craig says could be his last mission as 007. Directed by Sam Mendes, SPECTRE hits theaters on October 26th and co-stars Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Dave Bautista, Monica Bellucci, Ralph Fiennes, Andrew Scott, and Rory Kinnear.

Furious 8

Fast and Furious

Vin Diesel has confirmed that the next Fast and Furious movie will be shot in New York. While we’ve seen a lot of Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, and even Dubai, the high-octane series hasn’t taken a bite out of the Big Apple before. But if it can make it there, we hear it can make it anywhere… Due out on April 14, 2017, Furious 8 will be directed by F. Gary Gray and co-stars Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

The Night Before

The upcoming Christmas film The Night Before just might prove to be the comedy highlight of this holiday season; and it’s latest poster features its three (un)wise men: Seth Rogen, Anthony Mackie, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who play bros whose yuletide reunion goes a little haywire. Rogen revealed the new poster via Twitter. Directed by Jonathan Levine and co-starring Lizzy Caplan, and Jillian Bell, The Night Before arrives on November 20th.

Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension

The final chapter in the Paranormal Activity saga is coming just in time for this Halloween season, and promises to answer all the heretofore unanswered questions the series has left us with. Marking the feature film directorial debut of Gregory Plotkin, and starring Chris J. Murray, Brit Shaw, Dan Gill, Ivy George, and Katie Featherston, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension opens on October 23rd. Here’s the latest trailer:
