Star Wars: Episode VIII
Words on the streets is that Disney and Lucasfilm plan to be pretty forthcoming about their upcoming Star Wars: Episode VIII, and withhold fewer secrets than they did with The Force Awakens. There certainly seems to be a lot less mystery surrounding the film’s sets, of which even more photos have leaked online. Check âem out belowâ¦

Captain America: Civil War
Team Captain America received its due yesterday in the form of character posters from the hotly anticipated Captain America: Civil War. Now itâs Team Iron Manâs turn at bat, with a series of profile images sure to stoke the ire of those who think superheroes should not have to register their powers with the federal government. Who will win this ultimate confrontation between the friends-turned-opponents? And no matter who wins, will humanity lose? Expect answers when first blood is drawn on May 6.

X-Men: Apocalypse
Not to be outdone in the poster department, that other Marvel cinematic superteam, the X-Men, get a bold new one-sheet for director Bryan Singerâs fourth mutant movie epic. The highlight this time around is the new Big Bad Apocalypseâs Horsemen: Psylocke, Storm, Magneto, and Archangel. The quartet will take on Xavierâs Schoolâincluding Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Havok, Mystique, Quicksilver, and olâ Charlie himselfâwhen X-Men: Apocalypse lands on May 27.

The Mummy
Production on Universalâs reboot of its venerable horror franchises is kicking into high gear, with with casting announcements on the studioâs new Mummy. Tom Cruise. Annabelle Wallis and New Girlâs Jake Johnson (who brought his brand of low-key comedy to last summerâs Jurassic World) are expected to join the cast of the Alexander Kurtzman-produced film.
Independence Day: Resurgence
Want still more movie posters? Oookay… Hereâs the latest for Foxâs decades-in-the-making Independence Day sequel. Independence Day: Resurgence sees Jeff Goldblum, Vivica Fox, Brent Spiner, and Bill Pullman returning to their roles from the original film. This new international poster brings a familiar sense of foreboding to what I’m hope will, like ID4, prove to be a fun summer romp…

Something old, something new⦠Finally today, the versatile Amanda Seyfriedâs last attempt at big-screen science fiction saw her paired with Justin Timberlake in Andrew Niccolâs ill-fated In Time (pictured above). The film resulted in a major lawsuit from author Harlan Ellison, who claimed the film ripped off his short story “‘Repent, Harlequin!’ Said the Ticktockman.” So things have got to go better for the star and director when they reteam for Niccolâs next SF project Anonâ¦er, right? The film stars Clive Owen as “a detective in the psychological thriller set in a world with no privacy or anonymity. But when the detective stumbles on a woman (Seyfried) with no digital footprint and invisible to the police, he discovers it may not be the end of crime but the beginning.”
