Captain America: Civil War

Team Captain America received its due yesterday in the form of character posters from the hotly anticipated Captain America: Civil War. Now it’s Team Iron Man’s turn at bat, with a series of profile images sure to stoke the ire of those who think superheroes should not have to register their powers with the federal government. X-Men: Apocalypse

Not to be outdone in the poster department, that other Marvel cinematic superteam, the X-Men, get a bold new one-sheet for director Bryan Singer’s fourth mutant movie epic. The highlight this time around is the new Big Bad Apocalypse’s Horsemen: Psylocke, Storm, Magneto, and Archangel. The quartet will take on Xavier’s School—including Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Havok, Mystique, Quicksilver, and ol’ Charlie himself—when X-Men: Apocalypse lands on May 27.

Independence Day: Resurgence

Want still more movie posters? Oookay… Here’s the latest for Fox’s decades-in-the-making Independence Day sequel. Independence Day: Resurgence sees Jeff Goldblum, Vivica Fox, Brent Spiner, and Bill Pullman returning to their roles from the original film. This new international poster brings a familiar sense of foreboding to what I’m hope will, like ID4, prove to be a fun summer romp…

In Time

Something old, something new… Finally today, the versatile Amanda Seyfried’s last attempt at big-screen science fiction saw her paired with Justin Timberlake in Andrew Niccol’s ill-fated In Time (pictured above). The film resulted in a major lawsuit from author Harlan Ellison, who claimed the film ripped off his short story “‘Repent, Harlequin!’ Said the Ticktockman.” So things have got to go better for the star and director when they reteam for Niccol’s next SF project Anon…er, right? The film stars Clive Owen as “a detective in the psychological thriller set in a world with no privacy or anonymity. But when the detective stumbles on a woman (Seyfried) with no digital footprint and invisible to the police, he discovers it may not be the end of crime but the beginning.”
