Star Wars: Rogue One

Alexandre Desplat

The very first Star Wars spinoff film has got itself the first Star Wars theatrical film composer who is not John Williams. Oscar-winner Alexandre Desplat (The Grand Budapest Hotel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) will score Rogue One, which reteams him with director Gareth Edwards, with whom he worked on Godzilla. Starring Felicity Jones, and with a screenplay by Chris Weitz, Rogue One shoots this summer for a December 16, 2016 release.

Furious 7

Remember that extended Furious 7 clip that debuted last week? The one featuring the plane drop/auto skydiving sequence? Since it’s said to be one of the highlights of the film, how about a little behind-the-scenes featurette on how it was done? Universal just released the following video for director James Wan’s mega-anticipated seventh film in the Fast & Furious franchise, which earned a rave review from our own Scott Weinberg, who saw the film when it premiered at SXSW 2015 this weekend. Furious 7 opens everywhere on April 3rd.

Crimson Peak

We’ve still got a full seven months to go before we can see Guillermo del Toro’s next opus Crimson Peak, starring Jessica Chastain and Tom Hiddleston. And if the early reviews of the film that have just been tweeted by father-and-son scribes Stephen King and Joe Hill are any indications as to its quality, this could be the longest seven months of every horror fan’s life. Here’s what King has to say…

Not to be outdone, Hill is even more effusive in his praise…

C’mon, October 16th, get here already!

Director Bill Condon’s adaptation, which includes both the original film’s songs by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman and the Broadway musical version’s tunes by Menken and Tim Rice, will invite all of us to be its guest on March 17, 2017.
