Movie Morsels: A New BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Fight Scene Clip, and More

We’ve got new footage from one of this year’s most ballyhooed battles—the titular bout in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice—in today’s Movie Morsels. Plus, the latest on Star Wars: Episode VIII, a new X-Men: Apocalypse teaser, and much more!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Warner Bros marketing is kicking into high gear over Batman v Superman: Let’s Throw Everything Against the Wall and See What Sticks. The latest bounty from the DC champions’ battle royale blockbuster hopeful includes a new clip from the film, a track from its score—presumably music that accompanies the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight’s fight sequence—and a behind-the-scenes featurette/ad for Turkish Airlines (in which Zack Snyder aims to make up for dismissing mainstream superheroes back during his Watchmen days).

Star Wars Episode VIII

The Force Awakens

If you’re one of the many Star Wars fans who were left wondering about the recently released behind-the-scenes footage of Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley in the island setting featured at the end of The Force Awakens—specifically, whether it was shot for the J.J. Abrams’ film or for Rian Johnson’s next chapter in the saga—well, we’ve now got an answer for you: It was indeed shot for Johnson’s upcoming Episode VIII. And it sounds like Ridley is as thrilled to be working once more with Hamill as Rey must be to meet Luke Skywalker. Here’s what the actress says in a new interview with MTV:

“Me and Mark have been rehearsing a lot, and it’s really amazing. When we went back to Skellig to do the opening of [Episode] VIII, it was so crazy doing the same scene with a different crew of people. He’s amazing to rehearse with, and I’m very excited to be doing the rest of the stuff. It’s such a good story. Seriously. Luke is so cool in this one. Really.”

X-Men: Apocalypse

A new teaser video for X-Men: Apocalypse has landed online, featuring Magneto and all your other Marvel mutant faves in the fight of their lives…

In 3 months, only the strong will survive. See #XMen: #Apocalypse in theaters May 27.

Not to be outdone by a mere teaser video, actress/exhibitionist Olivia Munn has granted fans a look at the back of her Psylocke costume (of which we’ve only seen the front thus far). I have no doubt that we’ll see many a cosplayer sporting these threads come Comic-Con…

And since we’re talking X-costumes, some new advertising images of Professor Xavier and his associates have also surfaced. I’m digging how James McAvoy’s Charles and Michael Fassbender’s Magneto look more like their comic-book counterparts than they ever have before…

Ready or not, Lionsgate has announced that production has begun in Vancouver on Saban’s Power Rangers, based on the ’90s kids show Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Elizabeth Banks leads a cast of young newcomers—including Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G, and Ludi Lin—as the villainous Rita Repulsa. Dean Israelite directs the March 24, 2017 release.

The Divergent Series: Ascendant

?????????

And finally today… With Divergent Series director Robert Schwentke dropping out for the final film, Ascendant, Lionsgate/Summit has recruited Age of Adaline director Lee Toland Krieger for the film. Not a bad idea, since the dystopian series’ principal selling point has always been the romance between Shailene Woodley and Theo James’ lead characters.
