Morgan Freeman’s Epic Voice is Now on Waze

Try not to read, this article, in the voice of legendary actor, Morgan Freeman.

Waze, the turn-by-turn navigation app that helps you shave precious minutes off your commute (often times by directing you to take yet another left-hand turn across four lanes of traffic), has added to its list of available guidance narrators the voice of God. Err the voice of the man who played God in Bruce Almighty, Oscar-winner Morgan Freeman.

Freeman’s voice adds to a long list of celebrity navigators already available for Waze—purchased by Google back in 2013—including Stephen Colbert, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kevin Hart, and Neil Patrick Harris. And while all of the current optional celebrity voices bring their own charms and jokes to the app, Freeman’s voice is easily the most iconic. He is after all the narrator of March of the Penguins, The Shawshank Redemption, and Million Dollar Baby, as well as 30 other documentaries, TV series, and films.

If you’re curious about the timing, Freeman is now adding his voice to Waze to help promote his latest film, London Has Fallen. This is, as you’ve already guessed, the sequel to Antoine Fuqua’s 2013 action-thriller, Olympus has Fallen, in which Freeman plays Speaker of the House-turned-Acting-President, Allan Trumbull, alongside Aaron Eckhart and Gerard Butler. For London Has Fallen, Freeman, Eckhart and Butler will all reprise their roles, although Babak Najafi (Sebbe, Easy Money II: Hard to Kill) will be at the helm of this doubtlessly explosion-and-one-liner-laced blockbuster, which is set to be released on March 4th.

If you don’t have Waze, you can download it here, and set up Freeman’s voice by going to the in-app Settings, then Sound>Voice Language>Morgan Freeman. But remember, if you switch to Freeman as your navigator, “the American people will be counting on you… to drive [safely].”
