“Have you ever been downloading something online and halfway through it just froze and doesn’t go anywhere? Think Steph Curry’s puberty.”
Words can hurt, guys, and even basketball players aren’t immune to that acute sting from nasty tweets on the interwebz. Jimmy Kimmel has blessed us all with another installment of an NBA edition of Mean Tweets to get us all excited for his game night coverage. Unsurprisingly, Kimmel’s team had no trouble finding more horrible tweets about some of the best and brightest in the NBA.
While a lot of the Mean Tweets installments are nothing more than faceless jabs from random Twitter users (though that one about Steph Curry did make him laugh), this one actually proved to be a bit helpful. First off, it let us (and Reggie himself) learn about the magical, wi-fi providing qualities of Reggie Miller’s ears. The tweeters also provided us with super helpful comparisons between John Travolta and Magic Johnson–a similarity that, if I’m honest, I kind of can’t unsee now–as well as the sketchier comparison between Jar-Jar Binks and Russell Westbrook, who said he wasn’t offended since he didn’t know who Jar-Jar is. Somebody make sure he doesn’t look up Jar-Jar Binks, y’all.
We also got a solid death stare from Andre Iguodala after reading a tweet about his, well, his knack for giving people a death stare. Of course the prize for best response probably has to go to Shaq with a seamless “your mom” joke after being called a “fat ass old man” (with the obligatory #imjustsayin hashtag, because internet etiquette).
Unlike some, this Mean Tweets segment didn’t have as many retorts from the players, but these segments are always funny and are a great way to make rude comments on the internet a bit more fun to encounter. Because remember kids, it’s never nice to say someone’s voice sounds like a fart, even on the internet.
Which tweet was your favorite? Tell us about it in the comments!
