Mondo’s BACK TO THE FUTURE Vinyl Box Set is the Perfect Holiday Present

We’re happy to announce that the good folks over at Mondo have put together the ultimate Back to the Future vinyl box set. If you’re as into vinyl as you are into this film series, this is the perfect Christmas present for you.

The beautiful 6-LP box set is priced at $105, and includes restored music from all three Back to the Future films, from original master recordings under the supervision of composer Alan Silvestri. It also features never-before-released tracks from the sequels, cover art by DKNG Studios and Matt Taylor, and exclusive liner notes contributed by screenwriter Bob Gale. A press release from Mondo included the following except from Gale, who discussed Steven Spielberg’s first encounter with Silvestri’s score:

“I remember sitting in Universal’s Hitchcock Theater with Bob Zemeckis next to me, and Steven Spielberg next to Bob. Steven had not attended any of our scoring sessions and had always been a tad uncertain as to whether Alan was capable of doing the type of score Steven believed we needed. He didn’t realize that some of Al’s score had been laid in for this screening. During the Clock Tower sequence he leaned over to Bob and said, ‘Now, this is what your score should sound like.’ Bob smiled and replied, ‘that is our score, Steven.’ Thus, Steven Spielberg immediately became an Alan Silvestri fan.”

Back to the Future

The box set will go on sale on Future Day–the day that Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel forward to in Back to the Future II (that’s October 21, in case you need a refresher). If the entire set is too overwhelming, you can also buy the scores individually, as a two-record sets for $35 each. Keep your eye on the Mondo Twitter feed (@MondoNews) for more updates.

Will this box set soon be yours? Give it some love in the comments below.
