MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN Trailer Shows That Wonderful Tim Burton Weirdness

This fall, director Tim Burton is set to introduce a new world in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an adaptation of Ransom Riggs’ novel of the same name. The new trailer for the film has arrived, and it’s quite strange!

Asa Butterfield stars in the film as Jacob, a teenager who is drawn to a young girl named Emma Bloom (Ella Purnell), who introduces him to a world of surprises. In the trailer, Jacob follows Emma into a shipwreck at the bottom of the ocean before she takes him to Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children—a sanctuary for remarkable kids with special abilities who just don’t fit in anywhere else. There are some shades of the X-Men in there, which makes it fitting that X-Men: First Class screenwriter Jane Goldman wrote the script for this film as well.

Eva Green plays Miss Peregrine, who appears to have the power to transform herself into a bird. While the events at Miss Peregrine’s Home has that jovial Burton weirdness that we love so much, there is a hint of danger from Samuel L. Jackson’s Mr. Barron. But the last time that Jackson menaced people with special abilities was in Jumper, and it didn’t work out for him there.

As for Jacob, the trailer also plays up his destiny as a protector of the other children. Jacob is apparently more “peculiar” than he was initially led to believe, with special abilities of his own to prove it.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will be released on September 30. What did you think about the new trailer? Enroll your thoughts in the comment section below!
