MIGHTY NO. 9 Gets a New Release Date

After suffering several delays, Mighty No. 9 has a brand new release date. Publisher Deep Silver and developer Comcept have announced that the Mega Man-like action platformer will be available on February 9, 2016 in the Americas. The rest of the world will have to wait 3 more days. The title will be available physically and digitally on those days. Those that have yet to upgrade to current-gen consoles, and still game on the PS3 and Xbox 360 will only be able to grab the digital version.

Some of the hype has diminished for this game because of the delays it has suffered, but to have Keiji Inafune return to the genre that is considered to be his bread and butter, it is exciting. Starting off as a Kickstarter success, this title was originally going to release sometime this year, with a demo launching for backers on September 15. Obviously, neither of these targets were reached. A date for the demo has not been set yet, but fortunately Inafune has announced that it won’t have a time limit like originally planned.

From the short stints I’ve had with the title at different events, it’s playing great. What I’ve had a chance to mess around with were earlier stages, so it’s most probable the rest of the game wasn’t up to par. It’ll be interesting to see how the sale’s success is affected by the delay. The IP is already seeing success in other ways, with a live-action film on the way.

Will you be purchasing this game? Are you fine with the delay? Let us know in the comments below.
