Microsoft Reveals HALO: INFINITE With Surprise Trailer at E3

Microsoft kicked off their annual E3 press conference with a bang by revealing a cinematic trailer for 343 Industries’ Halo Infinite. The game, which was rumored in advance of the press conference, features the return of Master Chief and is rendered in a brand new graphics engine that 343 Industries is referring to as “Slipcase.” This marks the first new Halo game since 2015’s Halo 5,

The trailer starts off slow, showing slow, sweeping shots of the forest, the desert, and all sorts of verdant vistas before following a group of soldiers walking through arc-like ruins. The camera then zooms back to reveal a familiar-looking person in an iconic suit of armor: Master Chief.

“We will join Master Chief on his greatest adventure yet to save humanity,” said Xbox chief Phil Spencer after the trailer aired. Little else is known about Halo: Infinite at this time, but we will keep you updated as we learned more over the course of this week.

In a blog post, 343 Industries revealed that the game is still in very early stages of development.

“The E3 demo showcases some of the exciting potential of this technology – everything you see is running in-engine,” they wrote. “We still have a long way to go until we ship the game, so things will certainly evolve between now and the release of Halo Infinite, though the engine demo is a clear indication of the direction we are heading with our next game and a great snapshot of where our tech is right now.”
