Michael Jordan Wants Blake Griffin to Star in SPACE JAM 2

It’s been two decades since Michael Jordan teamed up with the Looney Tunes in the childhood-defining 1996 movie Space Jam. The film’s 20th anniversary has had people talking about a potential sequel as of late, and LeBron James has been the athlete most commonly associated with the project. It makes sense: He’s been a generational force in the NBA for the past decade, he has proved that he’s very marketable with his various endorsements, and he was actually pretty hilarious in Trainwreck.

Still, MJ’s input shouldn’t be discounted, and if it were up to him, the role wouldn’t go to LeBron:

Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin would also be a great casting choice/ Aside from being one of the league’s best and flashiest players, he’s also used to being in front of the camera, as seen in his many hilarious commercials:

Griffin has also flexed his comedy chops in non-advertising environments, like in a sketch with Drake for the ESPYS, and in a guest appearance on Comedy Central’s Broad City. Griffin’s dry sense of humor could provide a very fun contrast to the boisterous and, yes, animated Looney Tunes characters. Perhaps the ever-sly Bugs Bunny would finally face a sarcastic equal in Griffin.

He certainly seems to have the charisma necessary to star in a movie, and it definitely seems like something Griffin would enjoy doing, but Space Jam 2 is still little more than a possibility at this point. If this project ever were to go into production with Griffin on board, though, it would likely be, like Griffin himself, very different and exciting.
