Method Man Wrote a GHOST RIDER VS. KRAMPUS Story For His First Marvel Comic

Krampus is real in the Marvel Universe, and Method Man is sending Ghost Rider to take out Santa’s evil counterpart. That’s not a joke. Rap icon and Wu-Tang Clan co-founder Method Man has written his very first Marvel story, which is out this week as a digital comic.

According to Complex, Method Man and co-writer/artist Anthony Piper tackled the Ghost Rider X-Mas Special Infinite Comic #1; which stars the All-New Ghost Rider, Robbie Reyes. Long time Method Man fans may recall that he once assumed the identity of Johnny Blaze for “The Purple Tape,” which was the secret identity of the Ghost Rider from the ’70s. But Method Man also seems to be a fan of Robbie Reyes, a more recent creation of Felipe Smith and Tradd Moore.

Within the story, the less-than-enthusiastic reaction to Christmas in East Los Angeles has paved the way for Krampus to go on a rampage; which sends him on a collision course with Ghost Rider. There’s also a subplot about Robbie’s little brother, Gabe getting bullied for “having too much Christmas spirit.”

While Method Man didn’t share any quotes about the story, Piper was particularly effusive about working with one of his idols. “The fact that this was one of first projects with Marvel was already insane,” Piper noted to Complex. “But then when my Editor, Chris, hit me with the info that this would be a creative collaboration with Method Man, my hype level doubled from 10 to 20!”

You can read Method Man and Piper’s story here, and it will presumably be printed at a later date.
