There are spoilers ahead for last week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and they’re pretty big ones! If you’re not up to date on the series then you’re gonna want to skip the following preview clip. You’ve been warned!

Just a few episodes ago, it looked like Dr. Andrew Garner (Blair Underwood) was a dead man. He was cornered in a convenience store by Werner von Strucker (Spencer Treat Clark) and other Hydra agents who seemed intent on burning him alive…and yet Garner made it out without any major injuries. Now we know why…

Garner’s ex-wife, Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen), tracked down von Strucker half a world away and discovered the truth: Andrew Garner is Lash, the Inhuman monster who has been killing other Inhumans since the start of season 3! And if Garner’s actions in last Tuesday’s episode are any indication, he knows exactly what he’s doing. In fact, Garner is using his position as a trusted ally of S.H.I.E.L.D to help him locate his targets!

There were a few hints about this earlier this season. May and Garner left together at the end of season 2, and it’s been mentioned that Garner abandoned her some time after that. Of course, that’s the perfect window for Garner to have undergone his transformation into Lash. But there is still the question of why he’s so intent on murdering his own people.

In the latest preview scene from next Tuesday’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., May finally confronts Garner with the intel she received from von Strucker. Garner’s agitated response means that May probably won’t like her ex when he’s angry… and he seems primed to Lash out at any second!
