This week, Nerdist Industries is being brought to you by Threadless!
Wow. That was almost, you know, professional and stuff.
Yes, this week, we have a sponsor, the support of which will help keep the Nerdist empire going and growing. Let’s meet them, shall we?
Threadless describes itself as “a community-based company that prints awesome designs created and chosen by you,” and, well, yes, that’s what it is, but it’s more than that. The idea is that the site is a community of over a million members, including artists and designers, and the members can propose ideas for t-shirt designs. Then they vote on which ones will become actual t-shirts for sale, and the ones that make it win some money for the creators, too. Call it crowdsourced clothing.
And if you’re a Nerdist-type person, you’re going to like these shirts.
What’s your nerd specialty? There’s a shirt for that. Â Movies, comedy, RPG, tech, you name it, there’s probably a Threadless design for you to fly your nerd flag high. “Kraken Snackin'”? “Zombie at Tiffany’s”? “Cute Animals Smoking Cigarettes”? “Ambition Killed the Cat”? These are not the kind of designs you’ll find at the mall.
Oh, and there’s more: Forums for you to discuss pretty much anything with like-minded nerds, for example, or the ability to post your own design ideas in the ongoing t-shirt competition for a chance to win $2,000 in cash and $500 in a Threadless gift certificate (also redeemable for $200 cash) if your design is chosen, plus an additional $500 in cash every time it’s reprinted. It’s not just a shopping site.
But you can shop right now if you want. Threadless has t-shirts in a LOT of categories, including, among others, Comics , Gaming, Books, Music, Movies, Robots, and, of course, Zombies. Too specific for you, huh? Then how about Creativity, Irony, the general concept of Nerdy, or Funny? And if none of that is quite on point, just go see the rest of the catalog; there’s something there for you. And if all you want to do is talk to other nerds, geeks, artists, and fringies like us, there’s always the blog forum. Anything else? Yeah, before I forget, you can submit designs to the competition right at this link.
Go check it out, and buy something. Or stop by their retail store at 3011 N. Broadway Street in Chicago and tell ’em Nerdist said hi and thanks for the support.
Ed (and anyone else who, like me, wondered the same thing), it’s hover.com.

What was the sponsor of this show that did web hosting? I can’t seem to find it.
Take care,
ed
Hello again!
I would love to become a sponsor of your podcast. How does one go about that? I design and build guitar amplifiers by hand. I believe they sound better than almost anything else out there, but it is , of course, subjective. I would be happy to provide an amp for you all to play with!
Also, Matt-check into Vax-D for your back. It worked wonders for my herniated disc.
Thanks!
Hoseham
perfect sponsor. pickin up the hipster tee. great stuff.
Awesome to see Nerdist getting LEGIT sponsors. If anyone reading this isn’t familiar with Threadless, get familiar. This is totally how the internet should work.
Artist makes design. Community votes on design. Design goes to print.
Threadless is full of clever and creative shirt designs that almost always get someone asking you where you got it. And even if they don’t ask, they’re probably wondering.
Hahaha I’ve been buying shirts from them for a while now. Would be cool to see a nerdist shirt if an artist makes it!
I own several Threadless shirts that would be considered quite punny. I have to admit I haven’t bought anything recently because the majority of new shirts are more artsy/hipstery than I want.
Regardless, I definitely approve of Threadless as a sponsor!
I’m not a fan of this site but I clicked it because it might lead to sponsorship money.
Love Threadless. $10 tees for life!
FUCK YEAH! I have been a fan of threadless for a long while! this is awesome! two of my favorite things crossing over into pure bad assyness!
Already love Threadless shirts, glad my favorite nerdy things are joining forces!
Also, Tyson from Beyblade spinning Dom’s totem from Inception, or the reverse. Dom spinning Tyson’s beyblade.
I’ll probably never submit this idea, so if anyone wants to take it, go ahead. It’s a Pac-Man board that spells out NERD (or dork whichever looks better)with Pac-Man about to set into it.
YES!!!!!!!!!
Check out our wonderful nerd host sporting a Threadless tee himself in this http://www.g4tv.com/videos/50145/htc-hd7-smartphone-review/ clip of gadget pr0n!
So you can support the show’s new sponsor and look like Mr Hardwick AT THE SAME TIME!!!

I gotta a idea for a shirt. Oh my god, I am so excited for your Idea that I can’t sit down. Here we have a green shirt with a rooster and between two baseballs on it. We call it cock and balls. Boom send it to threadless.
I gotta a pitch for a shirt. What if we put a rooster with two baseballs next to it and call it Cock and balls. Boom send it to threadlist.
