Meet the Cast of Sandra Bullock’s OCEAN’S EIGHT

Meet the Cast of Sandra Bullock’s OCEAN’S EIGHT

Since it was first announced that Sandy B would be remaking Georgie C‘s Ocean’s E for you and me, after the knee-jerk response that comes with any reboot/remake announcement, people have been speculating which actresses would join the all-female cast for director Gary Ross’ heist film, said to be in the same vein as Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Eleven trilogy. Ocean’s Eight, as the new film will be called, has some very familiar faces and names joining Bullock, as Deadline reported on Wednesday.

And who, you wonder, will partake in the heist of the century? Along with Bullock and Cate Blanchett, who’d previously been announced, we also got word the movie has added Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling, and Awkwafina. (I may or may not have had to look up who Awkwafina is, because I’m an unabashed troglodyte when it comes to music the kids are listening to.) They’re clearly trying to run the gamut of the kinds of actors to appear in such a movie, with three Academy Award-winners, one Academy Award nominee, a multi-Emmy nominated writer and actress, a huge music superstar, and a revered and lauded rapper. That’s some pedigree right there.

Now, those of you who can count will recognize that that’s only seven names, which means at least one more actress will be named before too long. We don’t know who any of these actresses will be playing, so one of them could be a villain, filling the role played by Andy Garcia in Eleven. So, more announcements will definitely be forthcoming.
